Chapter 2. Installing the World Fax Client

Overview

The World Fax Client allows you to submit jobs to World Fax Server and to manage them from any network station or even across the Internet.  All the World Fax Client software requires is the IP address of the World Fax Server and an appropriate logon name and password. 

This chapter shows you how to install the World Fax Client software onto a station and get connected to a World Fax Server.

Preliminary Requirements

  1. The computer on which you install the World Fax Client modules must have Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000 or Windows NT (Workstation or Server) installed as the operating system.
  2. If the computer hardware is powerful enough to comfortably run the intended operating system above (e.g. NT has higher requirements than 95), then the machine will be adequate for the World Fax Client as well
  3. The computer must have the TCP/IP protocol installed.
  4. The computer must have Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4 or later installed.


Step 1: Run the Installation Program

Method #1: World Fax CD (Automatic Menu)

    1. Insert the World Fax CD into your CD-ROM drive.
    2. After a few seconds, the above menu should automatically appear:
    3. Click the "Install World Fax Client" button.

Method #2:  World Fax CD (Manual Method)
  1. Insert the World Fax CD into your CD-ROM drive.
  2. From your Windows desktop, double-click the "My Computer" icon.
  3. Double-click the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive (e.g.D:)
  4. Double-click the " ClientSetup.exe " program.
Method #3: World Fax File Download
  1. From your Windows desktop, double-click the My Computer" icon.
  2. Navigate to the folder that contains the downloaded version of the World Fax Client installation program.  The name of the file you are looking for is "ClientSetup.exe".
  3. Double-click the " ClientSetup.exe " program.

Note: Finding the Downloaded File on Your Hard Drive

If you are not sure of the folder into which you have downloaded the software, perform a search of your hard drive.

  1. From the Windows Start Menu, select Find | Files or Folders ….
  2. Type in the name of the file as "clientsetup.exe".
  3. Make sure the "Look in:" box shows the correct hard drive letter and that the "Include subfolders" box is checked.
  4. Click the "Find Now" button.
  5. When the search finds the file, double-click it to start the program.


Step 2: Welcome Screen

The Welcome screen appears to begin the installation process.  Click Next.

 

Step 3: Select the Client Directory

The "Client Directory" is the folder on your hard drive where the World Fax programs will be stored.

If desired, click the Browse button to choose a different location for the client program files (the default is "C:\Program Files\World Fax Client 7").

Click Next to continue the installation.

 

Step 4: Ready to Install

Click Next and then wait for the progress bar to finish.


Step 5: Installation Completed

Restart the Computer

Restart the computer to ensure that the printer driver is activated properly.


Verifying the World Fax Client Installation

Notes
  • After the reboot, check that the World Fax Capture printer driver has been added to your list of printers (Start Menu | Settings | Printers)
  • Check that the appropriate icons have been added to the Start Menu as listed below:

Start Menu Icons
  • World Fax Client: This is the main screen you will use to track the progress of your jobs.
  • World Fax Wizard: This is the program you will use to create and submit new jobs.
  • Cover Page Editor: Lets you create template documents that can have fax list data merged into them on-the-fly.
  • Fax List Manager: The built-in program for managing your fax lists. Also allows maintenance of a “do not fax list”.
  • Uninstall World Fax Client:Uninstalls the World Fax programs listed above.
