Excel Import Utility

Overview

The Excel Import program allows you to pull out data from Excel files.  You can maintain your fax lists in Excel, using any order of columns that you want.  When you run the Excel Import program, it allows you to specify which Excel columns match up to the World Fax fax list format.  Example: Column E in Excel matches to the Fax Number field of World Fax.

Installation

Copy the EIMPORT.EXE file into the "C:\Program Files\World Fax Client" folder.

Usage

1.     Run EIMPORT.EXE

2.       It prompts you to select an Excel file (.XLS extension).

3.   Choose your file and click OK.

4.    The main screen appears.

Select Worksheet

If you have more than one worksheet in the Excel file, specify the name of the worksheet you want to use for creating the World Fax fax list (e.g. Sheet1).  If you only have one worksheet, you can leave this box blank.

Select Columns

Select the columns from your Excel spreadsheet that correspond to the World Fax fax list fields.  If you want to skip a field, leave the box empty. 

For example, if the fax number is in column K of the spreadsheet, you would enter the letter K beside the Fax Number field.

If you want to check the Excel file to help you with matching the columns, click the "View Excel Document" button.  A separate Excel window will open to let you view the file.

Continue until you have matched up all desired fields.

Specifying a Filter

If you want to select a group of recipients in your Excel spreadsheet, then use the Filter settings.

For example, you only want to send to people in San Francisco.  If Column C of your Excel spreadsheet is used for the recipient's City, then you would type in the following:

Starting the Import

When you have complete matching the columns, click the "Import" button.

A screen will appear to prompt you for a file name for the fax list. 

Type in a name such as "faxlist.fax" and then click Save.  The default location for the fax lists is in the World Fax Client folder.

A progress bar at the bottom will show how the import is going.  After the process is complete, you can setup a job using the newly created fax list in the World Fax Job Setup Wizard.
